1. Make a cheat sheet It's a good idea to know who you are interested in (or not) drafting before you come to the actual draft. It can be a simple list of your top picks or something that lists each character individualy with specific info about it.

2. Assassination Who and how you assassinate will probably depend on where you fall in the draft order. If you draft first you will probably not want to eliminate your top pick unless that pick falls in a common or uncommon slot and you don't want another player to also have that character. Anyway here's a basic startegy for each First - NOT your top pick unless it is a common or uncommon, most likely your 4th or 5th top pick. You could also pick a weak character to ensure that your choices are good for drafting.
Second - Possibly your top pick if there is only one of that character and you don't want it taken by the top spot.
Third - Your top non-common pick. I would not assassinate a common in this position.
Fourth/Fifth/Sixth - Your top common pick or top overall pick remaining.
Seventh/Eighth - You could go with the same strategy as fourth-sixth or you can look closely at what has already been eliminated and remove remaining characters with a specific power and/or ability (e.g. the last character with TK or PC).

3. The Draft How exactly should you draft? Based on the average pool of characters I would recommend trying to draft actual teams. 3 teams to be exact, since the average player will take just over 3 games to cycle through every character in their pool. To this end, think of what you would like to have on each team and make sure you draft characters that fill those roles. For example, you might want at least one taxi on each of your teams. So, by the time both sets have been drafted you should have drafted a minimum of 3 taxis. Conversely, you may want to have completely different teams with one team having several characters and another team just a couple. As long as you keep track you should have no problem.
One last thing, if you draft many small point characters you will rotate through your team quicker than if you draft high point characters. This can really affect your overall approach to the games especially if you end up rotating everyother game. Of course your strategy could all go haywire once the actual drafting starts.
